Content is a business’s story. Who are they? What do they offer their customers? How do they help their customers fulfill a need or a want? Good content (and a good story) goes a long way toward building a relationship with a customer.
Today’s business world is beyond the old idea of “selling” something to a customer. Our goal now is to make a connection with that person, find out what they want or need, and fulfill that need. This is where a good story comes into play. An effective story builds and fosters that connection. A strong connection helps a business understand the wants and needs of the customer. Finally, when we understand that want or need, we can offer a product or service to fulfill it. What story does your content tell?
Jodi has been a freelance consultant for over ten years, and she officially started Jot (originally Hoyt Consulting) in January 2011. She earned her Master of Business Administration in 2009 from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, and her Bachelor of Music in music theory and composition in 2004 from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Additionally, Jodi is the Communications Director at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, an adjunct business instructor at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, and she is a creator and blogger with Simple Family Remedies.
Jodi and her husband, Nathan, married in 2004 and have two boys, Lincoln and Coulson. They also have a dog and two cats. In her spare time, Jodi loves to golf, run, ride bicycle, and play sand volleyball. She is also a big Marvel fan and a self-proclaimed tech geek.
