Using Chrome Extensions

Is Chrome your internet browser of choice? If so, are you utilizing the many extensions available to enhance your browsing experience?

Your first question might be, “What’s an extension?” A browser extension is a program added to the browser that works for you while you’re online. It’s sort of like an app that you download on your phone or tablet, except it works right with Chrome. They work in the background so you often don’t have to do anything extra. Simply install them, and you’re good to go!

There are COUNTLESS extensions available, but I’ll tell you about a few of my favorites:

  • iGive: Do you like to shop online? Do you like to help nonprofit organizations? With iGive, you can do both, at no cost to you! Sign up at, choose your nonprofit beneficiary, install the extension, and do your shopping. When you shop at a supported site (which, frankly, is almost all e-commerce sites), that company donates a percentage of your total to your chosen nonprofit. You don’t have to do anything, and it doesn’t cost you any extra.
  • AdBlock: Do the constant ads on websites drive you crazy? Hate having to sit through a video ad on YouTube before you can watch your selected video? AdBlock gets rid of all that stuff automatically.
  • Honey: Again, if you shop online, Honey is a must! When you’re ready to check out, Honey automatically checks for available promo codes and applies the best one. No more searching for deals and hoping you got the best price!

If you’re not taking advantage of the MANY extensions available, head over to the extension store now and check them out:
